Job Purpose


The LATAM Origination and Structured Solutions is part of one of our client’s two client franchise pillars of their FICE division; responsible for cross-asset opportunities linked to the Corporate and Investment Banking activities of their two Shareholders as well as self-originated transactions with their Corporate and Institutional Client Base.

The LATAM Head of this department will combine extensive experience in sales, structuring and origination with a proven track record in growing new businesses and a mindset to deliver best-in-class solutions to asset class agnostic clients. Working with the established franchise in London, this person will be responsible for:


  1. Corporate & Bank Sales – To coordinate and work with the Global Markets Structuring Team in London, the LATAM Coverage team in New York, and the Bank’s branches throughout LATAM, to expand the scope of solutions that can be delivered to the their clients globally??


  1. To originate transactions and develop new relationships throughout LATAM


  1. Special Situations – To originate and focus on ‘Event Driven’ opportunities linked to clients of the Group, notably those related to lending activity in the parent Bank’s Head Office’s Global Markets and Special Finance Division (SFD), plus their significant presence in Argentina and other LATAM countries


  1. Financial Solutions – ‘Engine Room’ for solutions business to be built up and managed so as to be able to deliver fully baked products and solutions on a timely basis. The Engine Room will deal with solutions across the board, from more simplistic linear/Delta 1 products to more complex structured derivatives and structured financing.?In addition, they will drive and manage the pipeline through the necessary risk and policy committees to ensure deals are compliant and move through the system efficiently


Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities


Delivery and Execution of Business Plans


  • Develop and manage the Debt and Structured Solutions business in LATAM
  • Define, implement, and continuously monitor strategy for Corporate and Bank Sales and Structured Solutions business in line with the FICE overall strategy and in conjunction with Head of FICE: Americas
  • Produce a budget for the business area consistent with strategy
  • Originate Debt and Equity financing solutions in Latin America. Financing solutions include, but are not limited to: structured finance, leverage products, acquisition finance and project/trade finance
  • Set and monitor performance targets in line with the business strategy and take timely remedial action as required
  • Be accountable for meeting agreed targets
  • Participate in, and contribute to, all necessary management forums
  • Where necessary, take responsibility for the distribution and pricing of product



Client Franchise


  • Proactively seek out new profitable clients and opportunities to increase wallet share with existing clients
  • Ensure dealing occurs only with approved clients and that the products traded are suitable for the client and the Bank’s strategy
  • Encourage and uphold the highest quality of Client Service
  • Escalate client complaints / concerns immediately through appropriate channels
  • Work with Coverage teams and Trading Heads to expand the scope of solutions that can be delivered to the Bank’s clients globally




  • Define and deliver key MI to the Head of FICE; Americas
  • Ensure that all other material information relating e.g. to markets, clients and staff is reported to the Head of Financial Markets
  • Ensure that appropriate forums are in place to allow material information to feed down to staff or back up to the Head of FICE


Risk Management


  • Ensure adherence to relevant Credit limits
  • Ensure adherence to relevant Regulatory, Legal and Compliance risks and rules that pertain to their business activities and that they are fully adhered to
  • Ensure that all trades/ structures are constructed in order to minimize Operational risk and escalates incidents if they arise




  • Maintain an awareness of and comply with all Anti-Money Laundering laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the Bank
  • Uphold the Values of the firm
  • Escalate all significant Regulatory / Compliance issues immediately through appropriate channels
  • Develop and maintain a Senior Managers Regime plan and working document to evidence compliance with the regime
  • Responsible for ensuring all mandatory training is completed by the team
  • Operates within the terms of the SLAs with the Bank


New Business Risk


  • Ensure awareness of approved products
  • Ensure any proposed New Business has a robust revenue story
  • Ensure that any new business initiatives are appropriately sponsored in the NPC, NPP and TAC forums
